Welcome to the Medical University of Gdańsk
The Medical University of Gdańsk is one of the largest medical universities on the southern coast of the Baltic Sea and is one of the most modern institutions of this kind in Poland. The University continues a several centuries long tradition of the natural and medical sciences of Gdańsk Gymnasium (Gymnasium Gedanense, set up in 1558, and later renamed as Academic Gymnasium, Gymnasium Academicum sive Illustre, Atheneum Gedanense).
Our programs are recognized by Departments of Education of United States and Canada as equal to their MD programs. Consequently, American and Canadian students are approved for financial aid by their governments. Physicians who have graduated from our University are getting MD degrees and some of them are pursuing Ph.D. diplomas. Many of them have international recognition and are working in well known medical institutions in Europe, US and Canada. The University offers the highest standard of education. Based on data from medical license exams, which are taken after the study, our graduates obtain highest scores. Students have also a possibility to do research in many academic departments, and obtain Ph.D. diploma in our MD/Ph.D. programs.
Studying in Gdańsk, one of Europe's most beautiful cities, is comfortable and safe because the campus combines departments of basic sciences, hospitals, dormitories, library, cafeteria and sport facilities in one area. They all are available in walking distance one from each other. International students create a very unique academic enjoyable atmosphere.
